Description:<br>One 1818 George III Birmingham John Bettridge sterling pocket vinaigrette.<br>Markings:<br>Assay office<br>: Anchor (Birmingham)<br>Content mark:<br>Lion (on the underside of the grille)<br>Reign mark:<br>None<br>Date mark:<br>"u" (1818)<br>Maker's mark:<br>"IB" in rectangle<br>This vinaigrette features a blooming rose in relief on the front cover, along with finely chased supporting decoration. It comes with a piece of sponge, but does not appear to be used. It is quite clean underneath the grille. The box hinge and grille hinge both work fine. Box opens and closes properly. One dent on the right corner of the top lid. Light scratches on the surface.Overall this vinaigrette is in excellent condition.<br>This vinaigrette came from a large collection of antique vinaigrettes and nutmeg graters I found in a local estate sale.
